45th Annual Faber Birren National Color Award Show

November 16 - December 18, 2025 - Online and in person

In 1980, Faber Birren, world renowned color consultant, author of 27 books on color, endowed the Faber Birren Color Award of $1000 for original and creative expression of color. The Faber Birren Color Award Show has grown from a regional exhibit to one of national scope, encouraging artists in all media. This competition is the only artistic event devoted exclusively to the use of color.

CATEGORIES: Painting, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Photography, Drawing, Printmaking

ELIGIBILITY
-Original art in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional media, created in the last 3 years and not exhibited previously in the Faber Birren Show. Electronic media, performance art, and installations will NOT be accepted.

Submission Deadline: October 4th
Artist Notification: October 14th
Receiving: Friday, October 31, 12-2 PM, Saturday, November 1, 12-2 PM hand delivered (see shipping note below for items shipped to FAST)
Reception: Sunday, November 16, 4-6 PM
Closing Reception: Thursday, December 18, 5:30-7 PM
Pickup: Friday, December 19, 12-2 PM, Saturday, December 20, 12-2 PM
-All entries must be submitted electronically.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS
-48x60 framed or no more than 60 pounds for sculpture.

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS AND FEES
-All entries must be made as jpg entries through EntryThingy -scroll down to bottom of page for submission form or select  FABER ENTRY.
-A non-refundable fee of $35.00 first piece entry for non-members, $30 for members and $20.00/$15 for each additional entry. Unlimited entries up to 9 per artist are permitted.
-Your entry will not be valid until payment is received.

PRIZES
Prizes: Over $1700 in awards. First ($1,000), 2nd, 3rd Prize, HM's as per the juror. Winners will be asked to participate in a video presentation.

COMMISSION
-The Stamford Art Association will take 30% commission on any work sold. Work not for sale must be marked 'N.F.S.'. No 'P.O.R.' (price on request) sales.
-The buyer will pay the Stamford Art Association and the Stamford Art Association will pay the artist, less the commission.
-All delivery of artwork is the responsibility of the artist.

TERMS OF ENTRY FOR ENTRANTS:
The Stamford Art Association will not be responsible for loss or damage of any kind for any entry submitted. Each artist must carry their own insurance for shipping and handling for art sold. All accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. The Stamford Art Association is not responsible for any work misrepresented or unsuitably presented.

-Submitting work to this exhibit implies agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth above.

SHIPPING NOTES:
Artists are responsible for delivering their artwork. Hand-deliver to the Gallery or ship through Fine Art Security Transport (F.A.S.T.), 55 John Downey Dr., New Britain, CT 06051 (Glenn, 800-573-1070). Do not ship directly to the Stamford Art Association.

Shipped work must arrive at F.A.S.T. by October 23 with:
-$65 handling fee (check to SAA)
-Prepaid shipping both ways
-Return shipping info and postage
-Place check and shipping info in an envelope with your artwork.
